Founded in 2014 by Shane James, the Canadian Youth Basketball League (CYBL) is Canada’s largest and most competitive middle school basketball league and event platform, powered by Under Armour. CYBL brings top programs together to compete on a high-level stage and has expanded beyond core middle school programming, with CYBL Premier, an elevated division featuring more competitive middle school teams and a dedicated Grades 9–12 league for scholastic and club programs. Beyond league play, CYBL hosts marquee events across the country, including the All-Star Games, the National Series All-Star, and the Rising Stars Camp held in multiple Canadian cities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create memorable, competitive moments for Canadian youth who are striving to excel in basketball by providing a platform to compete at a high level, develop their game, and be recognized through experiences that reward effort and performance. We are committed to growing every aspect of the sport and using basketball as a vehicle to build character, reinforce sportsmanship, and strengthen partnerships across our basketball community.
